Checklist for a Virtual Channel

Sources

Prepare your sources

• A base Live stream
• At least one VOD or Live stream to insert as alternate content into the channel

Service

Create the resources in broadpeak.io

• Create the Sources or retrieve existing ones

• Create a Virtual Channel Service from the base Live Source

• Create one or multiple Slots with selected alternate content

Test

• Test your service's output URL in your selected player(s)
• Check that at the configured time, alternate content shows instead of the base Live stream

Productize

• Connect your CDN and define the appropriate rules and policies to ensure an optimized delivery.
• Each time you need to schedule a new slot, ensure that the alternate content is already created as a Source or create it in broadpeak.io. If needed, you can automate the source and slot creation from your scheduling system with API REST calls

Sources

Prepare your sources

• A base Live stream
• At least one VOD or Live stream to insert as alternate content into the channel
• An Ad Server compliant with VAST
• Optionally, an image of video file for gap filling

Transcoding Profile

Check wether you need a transcoding profile for your ads.

• Ask your broadpeak.io representative for help if you don't have a suitable one ready

Service

Create the resources in broadpeak.io

• Create the Sources or retrieve existing ones
• Create a Virtual Channel Service
  • Select the base Live Source
  • Configure transcoding and ad tracking options
• Create one or multiple Slots with selected alternate content

Test

• Test your service's output URL in your selected player(s)
• Check that at the configured time, alternate content or ads appear instead of the base Live stream
